We have a new Parish Warden, who started with the parish council on 7th April; so a big welcome to George Ennis.
The Parish Warden is the reincarnation of an old concept - that of an employed person to carry out tasks around the parish, as identified by the parish council and these tasks will enhance the local area. It is the parish council who sets the Parish Warden's work schedule as there are limits as to where a Parish Warden can legally work.
George is employed by Hatton parish council for 20 hours per week and is paid for through the precept (the portion of the Council Tax you pay to the Parish Council).
Some of the duties (but not all) of a Parish Warden include:
litter picking around the parish within the 30mph zone, at Scropton Road Recreation Ground and Jubilee Field
Keeping benches and the play equipment clean
some mowing and strimming (in arrangement with DCC, SDDC and as designated by the parish council)
Cleaning and maintenance of the changing rooms at Scropton Road Recreation Ground
